UARDA 2008: the 100th anniversary of Lund's classic spex! Illustrations from the theater program booklet. By far the most ambitious illustration job I've done for
Lundaspexarna, and perhaps the best?

1942 was a spex production by
Lundaspexarna, originally set up in 1998. I drew these cartoons for the theatre program booklet of the 2005 re-production. "Spex" is a kind of musical variety show produced and performed by Swedish university students. Usually, the story is set in a historical context, satirising both historical and contemporary phenomena. The spex society of Lund is one of the better known ones in the country; several Swedish comedians have begun their careers here. In 1942, the ridicule was directed at the Germans, the Americans, the French and the British during WWII.

Space Police Squad was originally going to be a classic 2D platform computer game, produced by
Freelunch Design. You can see some sprites I made for it at the pixel art section. University studies, however, got in the way of our grandiose plans, and the project was put on hold. The characters stayed with me and resurfaced every now and then. At some point I envisioned it as a comic book concept, called Space Police Academy. It would be something like an intergalactic version of the 1980's Police Academy movies, with police cadets from every corner of the galaxy. The game, as well as the comic book, has yet to materialize.

Stompf was a class magazine made by the animation students at Fellingsbro Folkhögskola. I was part of the editorial group during my year of studies (1998) and participated eagerly with material to the publication that was distributed throughout the school.
